Ellen Greene

Founder & Lead Therapist

Raised in Lawrence, Kansas, she was influenced by the town's rich artistic community and her creative family, who nurtured her passion for art from an early age. After earning her BFA in painting from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1998, Ellen relocated to Chicago to further her artistic career. Her diverse body of work includes painted vintage gloves with tattoo-inspired designs while exploring subjects like love, death, sex, and motherhood. These pieces have been featured in publications such as Bust Magazine, Italian Glamour, and Raw Vision, and have led to collaborations with brands such as P.45, Anthropologie and Diesel. As an artist her work delves into themes of personal history, trauma, and healing through creative expression.

Ellen's personal experiences with addiction and mental health challenges, coupled with her journey through sobriety and trauma healing, inspired her to become an art therapist. Ellen graduated with her Masters in Art Therapy and Counseling (MAATC) from the School of the Art Institute Chicago (SAIC) in 2024. Her thesis focuses on her personal story of intergenerational trauma and the therapeutic potential of art-making to process and heal intergenerational grief. Through her work, Ellen aims to encourage others to explore their own family narratives, generational patterns and utilize creative processes as a means of personal transformation and healing.
