Our Approach:
At The Art of Together, we understand that there are many art experience options available- from pinot and paint to craft clubs. We want you to know we are different! We understand that teaching art skills alone do not result in what people want: a sustainable art practice and a community to share it with. Our goal is to create that together.
What sets us apart is our approach is we combine the best of clinical art therapy, art education and community based art to create a one of a kind experience. We believe (and the science proves!) that the creative process can provide emotional clarity, deeper insight into behavior patterns, and authentic connection with others. What other programs fail to address is that to get to the positive results of creativity, participants often have to navigate negative internal dialogs, limiting self-beliefs and social anxiety.
At The Art of Together we are “in it with you” and can offer trauma informed support through any stuck points that you may experience. We believe that the results of a regularly engaged, creative practice is an improvement to all aspects of life! Art making is a wellness practice.
Groups
We offer weekly “open” groups as well as “closed” groups and stand alone workshops. Open groups are organically organized by the participants that show up on that given day allowing for flexibility for participants while also encouraging regular attendance. Closed groups have a qualifying identity, age or experience as the organizing factor. Groups happen during the day, evenings and weekends.
Individual
We offer one-on-one guidance to deepen your creative practice and tailor the support to your needs. Individual sessions are great for participants who desire more privacy, space or individual attention than group dynamic allows.
What we Offer:
*Please note*
TAOT does not qualify as a replacement for traditional mental health care. While TOAT’s founder is a masters level educated and credentialed art therapist, our studio does not offer clinical art therapy services. Our work together does not include diagnosis, clinical interventions, or insurance coverage. Instead, we focus on the therapeutic environment of an art studio, which allows us to focus on a variety of human experiences beyond diagnostic categories. If you have a diagnosis or seek mental health treatment outside of TAOT you are welcome here! The work that happens at TAOT will enhance the therapeutic work that happens in traditional talk therapy. If you are seeking formal art therapy for mental health treatment, we are happy to provide referral resources.
